Free Targets
Here is a series of free targets for you to be able to print and train. Many of these targets will have a suggestion on how to shoot them… If you find a better or different way to shoot em’ please let us know so we can update them for everyone.
• Standard Target
This is our standard training target. We made this target because it allows us a standard head box + center mass target, as well as some accuracy stressors on the sides… all on a single page of printer paper.
• Six Pack
This is one of our standard practice targets. The focus should be placed on accuracy and fundamentals. This target can be used at any range and with “almost” any drill.
Use your imagination and let us know if you come up with something special!
• Sadness Circles
This target is designed to allow you either a consistent string of fire or a string-reload-string.
You can shoot it straight through for your fastest time, counting misses as 1 extra second.
• ABC-123
This target is good if you want to practice transitions while stuck on the flat range. As with most of these targets, your imagination is the only limiting factor in implementation. I really like the 1-2-3-3-2-1 string of fire from the 5-yard line as a warm-up for the range day.
• Decision Triangles
This one is great for having a teammate call out a number, or even give you a simple math problem (4-1= your target). This forces you to critically think while performing a draw or getting behind your rifle.
• Identify Target – (variety)
This is another fun team shooting game. This one can be called out by number, shape, phonetic alphabet, math problem… Just another target to get your noodle cookin’
• Slow and Steady
This target is all about throttle control and recoil management.
The idea for the top set of targets is to allow you to fast draw, into a controlled headshot, then right into a fewer rounds “bill drill”.
The idea for the bottom set of targets is to practice a classic failure drill or “Mozambique”.
Drills and Competency
• Rifle 1
This is a good drill to run new shooters through. The main focus is getting behind the sights and getting shots on target. It starts with 1ups from the low ready at various distances and then transitions into failure drills at various distances. This is a good time to work on slow hits instead of fast misses.
• Pistol 1
This one page is an all-inclusive pistol verification. As you progress through the page you will have to show proficiency with your draw, aim, the balance of speed/accuracy, and reloads. Along the way, stoppages and malfunctions should be addressed and the sting of fire continued.
• CCW Check
The idea behind this training session is to allow you to test your EDC the way you actually carry it. Do not “game it” with a full battle belt or competition setup.
* This is a low-round count drill so I’d recommend you shoot at least most of it with your defensive loads. 24 Rounds
